
The Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI), which is under the Commerce Ministry, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CNN International Commercial (CNNIC) in a virtual programme recently for showcasing the ‘Made in Bangladesh’ brand globally.
Media reports maintained this adding the USA-based multinational news channel Cable News Network or CNN will carry out a branding campaign for Bangladesh in the global arena, highlighting Bangladesh’s achievements and compliance in the flourishing export-oriented sectors even as the campaign will kickstart from September or October this year and continue for almost a year, focusing on seven sectors including the readymade garment industry, leather and leather goods, agriculture and jute.
Meanwhile, reacting to the initiative, Director of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association’s (BGMEA), maintained, “…our success stories get no attention from the global media. This campaign will help us showcase our achievements…We laud the branding initiative taken by the Government,” even as President of the Bangladesh Leather, Leather goods & Footwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (LFMEAB) Md. Saiful Islam said shifting of the tanneries by maintaining compliance, to Savar from Hazaribagh, ought to be showcased by the global media and went on to add a positive branding in the international arena will help Bangladesh achieve a greater price.
