Uniqlo, the Japanese fast fashion retailer, highlighted Shima Seiki’s WHOLEGARMENT knitting technology at the annual China International Import Expo (CIIE).
The event was held from 5 to 10 November in Shanghai.
The booth space showcased the revolutionary 3D seamless knitting that fits the body perfectly and brings a new wearing experience of stylish comfort.
The event also saw the retailer hosting for the first time The Art and Science of LifeWear – a global event in China – following similar events in New York, Paris and London in previous years.
With an area of about 1,500 square metres, this was the largest exhibition space of the customer goods category of the CIIE.
The space was named ‘Museum of Tomorrow’ and demonstrated the innovation and technologies that are behind Uniqlo products.
The space also highlighted the craftsmanship that goes into creating high-quality clothing, sustainability initiatives, as well as the first public exhibition of the upcoming +J collection in collaboration with designer Jil Sander.
Shima Seiki and Uniqlo have a long-standing partnership for Shima Seiki’s WHOLEGARMENT technology. The technology delivers excellent comfort, wear and drape properties arising from seam-free construction, high added value and a wide variety of designs not offered by conventional products.
The solution also reduces manufacturing lead time and realises appropriate volume production while also significantly reducing yarn and fabric wastage.
