
Having made a name for itself in the Asian apparel manufacturing sector by making available suitable automation to the garment manufacturers, the four decades old Focus Garment Tech has gone a notch above by offering automatic sewing machines for denim jeans manufacturing, showcased for the first time at the Garmentech show, in association with the Chinese sewing machines pioneer Supreme. Representing the company at the fair Foo Toon Pow, Managing Director, Focus Garment Tech shares, “Offering denim bottom manufacturing solutions is a very mature move from our company and presently only three companies have such technologies.” The range of sewing automates, under the Supreme-Nisho brand name include SNAS-2201G-JPPSSN double needle machines for back pocket decorative sewing, SNOL-254 belt loop setters, J-stitch sewing machines, single and double needle back pocket setters.The machines have been developed specifically for the price-sensitive Asian market with a competitive price tag.

The company believes that it would now be able to tap all big and small companies, as the range of basic sewing machines from Nisho have already been popular with medium and small sized companies and with the addition of automated machines the top 100 apparel manufacturers of the country can be added to Focus’s present clientele of 4500 apparel manufacturers. “We are now increasing our market share not only in Bangladesh but in entire Asia, as we now have a complete set of solutions from cutting to sewing to finishing, from brands based in China, Taiwan and Korea,” adds Adrian Leow, General Manager, Focus Garment Tech, spearheading the company’s operations in Bangladesh. Besides sewing machines from Uzu, Nisho and Supreme, Focus offers cutting room solutions from KM, fusing machines from Hashima, finishing machines from Nissin and thread trimming equipment from Unisun and Dino.
Representing, KM brand of cutting equipment and Hashima brand of fusing machines, Shunsuke Yamanaka, General Manager, Hashima was content with the response at the fair. “Our fusing machines and range of manual cutting room equipment have gained wide popularity in the market and the same has been the response to our new automatic fabric spreading machine, which we introduced to the country only last year,” adds Shunsuke Yamanaka. The company has already sold 5 spreading machines to companies like Standard Group, Babylon Garments and Smart Jackets. Like all its machines, the KMS-2100SVEX-H spreading machine has been manufactured in Japan and is equipped with servo motor, end cutting device, edge control sensor and LED control panel.

Synonymous with thread trimming equipment for apparels, Unisun since its establishment in 1983 has developed equal competence in manufacturing heat transfer presses, bobbin winders, needle point lights, presser foot lifters and other such work aids. Live demonstrations of the US-6880N2Automatic Heat Transfer Press were given at the Garmentech show by A-Chi Wu, President, Wang Sing Electric Factory Corporation, owners of Unisun brand. The heat transfer press is air-driven with easy temperature and pressure control. With a set of two plates, the machine increases the productivity of the printing operation and the sealing time can also be set in an error-free manner.
For increasing its reach in the market, Focus has more than 20 dealers in the country, along with its own liaison office in Dhaka. “Every dealer has a close knit group of apparel manufacturers who only buy machines from them and with such collaborations, we can tap a lot of companies,” asserts Adrian. The company keeps a stock of spare parts for all its brands and products at its liaison office.
