Recently, Twinery, the innovation division of MAS Holdings, a global leader in garment technology, revealed that its 100th utility patent had been granted.
To revolutionise the human-textile interface, Twinery, a prominent innovation hub in Sri Lanka, unites scientists, engineers, designers and entrepreneurs. Twinery has developed 23 disruptive technologies in the fields of Material Science, Chemistry, Electronics, Thermodynamics and Textile Engineering through innovative thinking and teamwork, transforming ground-breaking concepts into real solutions and changing the fashion industry and beyond, the company said in a press release.
MAS Holdings Chief Innovation Officer and Chief Technology Officer Ranil Vitarana said the company is extremely proud of its accomplishment of receiving 100 patents in under 13 years, after registering its first international patent in 2011. He continues by saying that this accomplishment is a result of the team’s dedication and passion as well as the many hours of study and cooperation that have propelled the business to the forefront of textile innovation worldwide.
Through Twinery’s path, Sri Lanka is positioned as a growing force in science, technology and apparel. These patents, which cover 23 unique inventions and were awarded in over 20 countries, including the USA, Europe, Japan and India, represent more than just advancements in technology. They serve as a means of achieving sustainability, economic expansion and the promotion of Sri Lanka as a leader in innovation worldwide.
