Elkem, Oslo’s prominent silicon solution provider, introduces SILCOLEASE™ UV POLY 126, a novel “Ready-To-Use” UV acrylate formulation. It’s designed for release coating of thermal labels that are self-wound without the use of a separate release liner. This technology allows crafting sustainable thermal printed linerless labels across manufacturing, cutting, converting and printing stages. In addition to this, the company also unveils SILCOLEASE™ UV LED Series leveraging their photo-initiator for more sustainable release coatings.
The new UV LED technology has emerged as a promising sustainable solution for curing silicone chemistries and a more sustainable alternative to mercury vapor curing lamps. Apart from its efficacy and adaptability, UV LED stands out for its energy efficiency, reduced greenhouse gas emission, and enhanced circular economy.
Elkem provides silicone release coatings in extensive range of options, encompassing solvent-based, water-dilutable emulsion formulations, solvent less thermal and UV varieties. Given their application across diverse sectors spanning from consumer goods and packaging to medical and hygiene products, transitioning to circular alternatives becomes an imperative. With SILICOLEASE, users can select the most appropriate system for their specific coating equipment while taking into account energy, sustainability, regulatory and safety requirements.
