It is heartening to know that the industry after over a one month’s break amid Coronavirus is back to its operations with full precaution, w.e.f. 26th April 2020. Most factories, though operating on a limited scale, are in full gear to scale up the production as and when things improve. Industry stakeholders share with AOB their opinion on the issues faced, review roadmaps for the future and how to make the best of opportunities that might emerge post the pandemic. “This is a new problem, but I believe every problem brings opportunities. So be strong and face the situation today with fortitude and wait for new opportunities,” enlivened Tipu Munshi, Commerce Minister of Bangladesh, boosting the industry morale.
There is no doubt that China dominates global apparel manufacturing and is comparable to none. But in view of many companies exiting their business from Chinese cities in the wake of the Covid-19 virus, will it be able to retain its manufacturing dominance. Even Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while interacting with the Chief Ministers of different states, suggested that states should explore the possibility of attracting investments under such circumstances.
