Shirt has been a key product category for the Bangladesh apparel industry – the country which is the second largest garment exporter globally. The shirt manufacturers here have started catering to all the major brands and retailers globally including names such as H&M, US retail giant Walmart, British retailer Primark, Germany’s posh brands Hugo Boss and Olymp (formal shirts), and many more. But of late shirt is not the front liner in Bangladesh anymore! Is it so…? AO interacted with some of the prominent shirt manufacturers and exporters to get the pulse of the shirt business in Bangladesh… The issue gives prominent coverage to the just concluded 6th edition of the Bangladesh Denim Expo where sustainable products and processes once again reinforced their importance in the denim sector. The show drew in over 5,000 visitors from 1,000 companies from 52 countries, surpassing even the organizer’s expectations, more so considering the security concerns following the string of unfortunate incidents that had rocked the country in the recent past.
