Sweater is a major product category – third in line after T-shirts and bottoms in Bangladesh. However, considering the huge global knitwear market, country’s average annual knitwear export of US $ 12 billion, sweaters constitute more than one-fourth share of the country’s total knitwear items. In a recent visit to the country, Team AOB spoke to a range of sweater manufacturers and exporters to know more about the product and the diverse challenges they are going through in manufacturing, including the workers’ absenteeism, his limited skill set and low on efficiency, besides ‘unethical’ competition.
