The Fall Winter 2019 showcase at London Fashion Week Men’s marked the 13th edition for the British fashion industry with a plethora of design inspiration and trends to take cue from.
We live in times where fashion has become genderless, opinions are worn on the shoulder (quite literally), and the timeline between runway to street is almost negligible. Moreover, the men of today are equally contributing to sales within the industry. What a time to be alive!
We have figures to support our statement- the Guardian reported that consumer spending on men’s fashion grew by 5.1% to reach £ 15.9 billion in 2018, and the recent appointment of David Beckham to the British Fashion Council (BFC), has further helped this case by boosting London fashion scenario.
With Beckham in the picture, there is a keen focus on Asian designers such as Xander Zhou and Feng Chen Wang in an effort to build “more and more relationships built with Asia, and a lot of the funding for our menswear and our GQ/BFC fund – which will be announced on Monday – comes from there.” Dylan Jones, Editor of GQ was quoted as saying.
Baggy silhouettes, longline padded-puffer jackets, and loose silhouettes seem to be a norm for the British fashion capital with colours such as rusted orange, bottle and olive greens and neutrals making a mark.
