The Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode is the governing body of the catwalk seasons in Paris and has announced that an online haute couture fashion week will be taking place in July.
The virtual catwalks will feature collections from AW 2020-21 from 6 to 8 July in the capital of France.
Previously, these were the dates allotted to a live fashion show which had to be called off due to coronavirus and Federation was also forced to cancel the menswear fashion week in Paris that was scheduled for the end of June.
The decision gives hope to the fashion community with luxury houses ranging from Christian Dior and Stephane Rolland to August Getty of Los Angeles confirming their virtual presence in the show.
A statement by the federation confirmed that the collections from each brand will be presented in the form of a separate video or creative film along with an editorialised section on the platform to display additional content. The show will be made available to major international media networks.
Separately, the federation will also stage an online pret-e-porter season featuring both menswear and womenswear, with the working title Paris Fashion Week Digital.
