
SPESA – The Sewn Products Equipment & Suppliers of the Americas – has elected its new leadership for the next two years at the recently held Annual Executive Conference in San Antonio, Texas, USA. In the latest development, Sam Simpson has succeeded Mel Berzack as the new Chairman of SPESA.
Simpson currently serves as the Vice President of Gerber Technology where he is responsible for managing, maintaining and expanding relationships with key enterprises, agents and distributors worldwide. Sam played an integral role in the expansion of Gerber’s international business activities in the EMEA, CIS, Far East, Southwest Asia, and Latin America regions. Prior to joining Gerber, he was Product Manager with Hughes Aircraft Company for the AM-1 design, grading, and marking system. And before that Sam was with Genesco where he was a member of the team that pioneered the first automated pattern grading and marking system, including the development of the first laser cutter for apparel applications.

In another development, Nina McCormack, Vice President and CFO, DAP America Inc. has been positioned as the new Vice Chairman. Ed Gribbin, President, Alvanon Inc. was honoured with the role of Secretary/Treasurer. Whereas, Benton Gardner, SPESA will now serve as the President of SPESA.
Formed in 1990, SPESA is the largest trade association in the Americas solely devoted to the advancement of suppliers of machinery, technology, ancillary equipment, parts, services and other solutions for the development, manufacture, and distribution of sewn products.
