Lectra, a front runner in integrated technology solutions for fabrics, leather, technical textiles and composite material industries; recently organised a pattern-making competition for fashion design students of Istituto Secoli in Italy.
The competition was organized in association with the Italian fashion giant, Giorgio Armani, to ensure that the students learn the benefits of cutting-edge technology in the pattern-making process.
During the competition, students showcased their collections developed using Lectra’s Modaris, a 3D virtual prototyping software, and Diamino, an automated marker making software. Additionally, students pursuing their Master’s course in the menswear category presented their collections developed using Lectra’s state-of-the-art fabric cutting technology – Vector. The Giorgio Armani Group chose one winning student in menswear for an internship at its Collection Development Department, reports Lectra.
Giorgio Ferremi, Industrial Director, G.A. Operations at Trento, commented, “We were very pleased with Lectra’s initiative and were delighted to offer educational internships at G.A. Operations. We chose the winning student for his creative skills and for his training on Modaris and Diamino. This gives us the important advantage of bringing somebody with proven technical skills into our team.”
It’s worth mentioning here that Lectra is providing technical solutions and expertise to teachers of 850 fashion schools worldwide by partnering with them. According to Lectra, these collaborations will impart key skills to the students in order to prepare them for the workplace.
Fabio Canali, Managing Director, Lectra Italy, underlined, “The role of Lectra must increasingly be to promote and support dialogue between fashion schools and companies. We are delighted that Armani has accepted to support the fruitful collaboration, and helped students of Secoli to develop their professional skills.”
