For Indian denim mills, Bangladesh is an important market and they are offering plenty of varieties to stay firm in this market. Present at Denimsandjeans.com show, PK Ravi Kumar, Marketing Manager – Exports (Denim Fabrics), KG Denim Ltd., Coimbatore (India) told Apparel Resources, “We are offering Bi-stretch fabric with more than 60 per cent stretchability. For this, we are using poly spun so that the recovery and growth can be controlled. It is in demand among ladies as well as men. We have started modal in a big way too. Next for us is advanced denim which uses very less water at fabric stage as well as garment stage. It is little expensive due to the chemical cost; however, the trend is gaining popularity due to growing concern over sustainability. Corduroy in denim is also in demand. For ladies, dobby designs with high stretcher weft colours, in reactive and indigo are coming back strong again for the approaching season.”
On the market front, he added that apart from Bangladesh, there is no other option for anyone in denim industry as the country has a huge infrastructure for this sector.
