J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has declared that the administration was dedicated to developing Kashmir’s skilled artisans and weavers.
The LG, at the National Institute of Fashion Technology’s (NIFT) convocation ceremony in Srinagar said that J&K has preserved the creative traditions of India which can be seen in the various goods from the handicraft and handloom industry. The LG said that they are committed to the talented weavers and craftspeople in the state and providing them with the material and equipment they need to realise the potential the industry holds.
He called on fresh, imaginative minds to tackle the new issues facing the domestic textile and clothing sector.
He said that he believes in the unique cultural and historical identity that India has and that the youth will bring about substantial changes in the fashion industry because they are committed to producing fantastic creations.
He discussed the major measures implemented under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s direction to revitalise distinctive cultural and artistic legacy and to fortify the whole value chain, from fibre, yarn, and fabric to clothing.
The LG also praised NIFT’s efforts to support J&K’s artisans and enhance local crafts through Craft Cluster Projects, as well as to offer comprehensive, relevant, and meaningful education in the areas of design development, fashion management, and fashion communication.
He counselled the students to use an inclusive approach in order to empower craftspeople by showcasing their creativity and sharing the knowledge and exposure gained at NIFT with the handicrafts and handloom industries.
