Bangladesh is going to be the host of the second seminar of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). The much-awaited event is scheduled to be held on 8 September 2019, in Dhaka.
The theme of this year´s seminar is ‘Connecting for Success’, which will bring together all the key players – brands, exporters, certifiers, chemical industry and other significant stakeholders of the country’s textile value chain.
It may be mentioned here that in 2018, Bangladesh reached the second position (after India) in terms of GOTS-certified facilities in the country. This growth trend showcases the commitment of the Bangladeshi textile industry to not only use organic fibres, but also be environmentally and socially compliant.
“To sustain this growth, it is important that the industry is strongly connected with other stakeholders in the organic textile value chain. While connections within the country are important, active engagement with international stakeholders including suppliers and buyers is vital to the success of the industry,” maintained GOTS.
The event will be held at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), Dhaka.
