Gerber Technology, provider of integrated hardware and software solution, has announced its five finalists, who will be debuting their creation in Ideation 2018. More than 90 students from 17 different fashion schools across the US submitted their applications for this competition. The finalists were chosen after careful consideration by a global panel of industry professionals.
Students were supposed to use AccuMark and YuniquePLM for creation of patterns, tech packs and visualization of their final designs and also had to combine Pantone colour of the year Ultra Violet with a range of related colours.
The five entries that stood out were submitted by Adrian Guevara from Jannette Klien University, Angelica Alarcon from University of the Incarnate Word, Loren Franco from El Centro College, Sigele Nickerson-Adams from El Centro College and Tyesha Wilson from Fanshawe College.
The innovative creations selected were a garment utilizing organic fabrics and dyes with unconventional materials, wearable tech and laser cut motif inspired by the Aztec culture; a jacket with solar panels installed on the sleeves, which is connected to a phone charger in the jacket pocket; a dress that utilized an electronic cutting machine to cut out floral designs and a textile that is digitally printed; a top and trouser outfit that has zero waste from the materials it utilized and a ball gown that was digitally and 3D printed.
“Our goal is to make it easy to design, produce and sell great products and Gerber helps our customers do this by enabling their digital reality,” said Elizabeth King, VP, Digital Solutions Community and Ecosystem at Gerber Technology.
Ideation is the premier software conference dedicated to fashion and retail professionals who rely on CAD and PLM software from Gerber technology. The event will take place on October 3-5 at Florida, USA.
