Apparel Sourcing Week (ASW), in collaboration with global trend forecasting authority WGSN and powered by Apparel Resources, has announced the launch of the ASW Designathon.
The design competition aims to identify and celebrate the brightest emerging talent in the apparel industry through a high-energy, innovation-driven format that offers both visibility and opportunity.
The ASW 2025 Designathon is not just another design contest – it is an open invitation for fashion creatives to take the spotlight. Open to independent designers, creative professionals, fashion students and trend forecasters, the Designathon is set to become a landmark initiative that pushes the boundaries of design thinking and commercial fashion innovation.
Participants will be challenged to create compelling collections using exclusive WGSN Spring/Summer 26 Trend Decks which they will receive after completing registration. Each submission must include a clearly defined concept note, detailed 2D or 3D sketches, innovation highlights, an assessment of market potential, and a short 60-second video explaining the idea. To qualify, each entry must feature a minimum of three garments.
A distinguished jury panel comprising creative experts from WGSN, ASW and top fashion brands will evaluate the entries. The judging criteria will include creativity, practicality, innovation and market relevance.
The Top 10 finalists will be given an exclusive opportunity to present their designs live at ASW 2025 on 2nd July in Bengaluru. These final presentations will be delivered in an immersive 3D virtual format in front of the jury and audience. Out of these ten, three winners will be selected and awarded attractive prizes, including cash rewards, gadgets and internship opportunities with leading fashion companies.
In addition to these rewards, participants will gain access to industry trend tools, media coverage across WGSN and ASW platforms, and receive digital certificates for participation. Special recognition certificates will be given to the top three winners.
