A significant fashion exhibition honouring London’s role in modern global fashion will be held in September at The Design Museum in partnership with the British Fashion Council (BFC).
The exhibition “Rebel: 30 Years of London Fashion” will debut on September 15 during London Fashion Week. It will commemorate the 30th anniversary of BFC’s NewGen initiative, which has aided in the professional development of hundreds of designers and companies.
The exhibition, which will showcase over 300 designers and over 100 objects, will be the first to exclusively spotlight the originality of young British designers.
Sarah Mower, the BFC’s ambassador for young talent, will serve as a guest curator, while Rebecca Lewin, a senior curator at the Design Museum, will serve as the committee’s chair. Sarah Burton, the creative director of Alexander McQueen, will serve as co-curator. Also supporting the exhibition will be Alexander McQueen.
“The exhibition will deconstruct the creative process and inspire the next generation of fashion designers,” said Design Museum in a statement.
