The BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) has signed Memoranda of Understanding with ten leading apparel and textile manufacturers, strengthening its academia–industry collaboration to enhance practical learning, research engagement and career readiness for students.
The agreements were formalised on 19th November 2025 at the BUFT, where the Board of Trustees Chairman Faruque Hassan attended as the chief guest and signed on behalf of the university. Board of Trustees Member Mohammed Nasir and Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Engr Ayub Nabi Khan were also present.
According to BUFT, the new partnerships include major industry groups such as Team Group, Giant Group, Hameem Group, Babylon Group, Eco-Tex Limited, Fakir Apparels, Sonia Sweater Group, Purbani Group, Paramount Group and Shasha Denim—all key contributors to Bangladesh’s apparel supply chain.
University officials stated that the collaboration will provide BUFT students with access to industrial training, hands-on technical exposure, internship opportunities, joint research projects and employment linkages. They said the initiative is expected to help bridge the skill gap and align academic training with the needs of the industry, particularly as Bangladesh’s apparel sector undergoes rapid technological advancement and sustainability-led transformation.
