
The Bangladesh Garments Washing Technologists Foundation (BGWTF) recently held its 14th Annual Grand Get-Together at the KG Eco Resort and Picnic Spot in Krishibid City, Birulia, Savar, bringing together leaders and professionals from the country’s garment washing and textile industry.
The vibrant, daylong celebration witnessed participation from key figures across the sector, marking another milestone for BGWTF, a non-political, non-profit social welfare organization that has been instrumental in advancing technology, professional development, and member welfare in garment washing. Since its inception in 2009 and formal registration in 2014, BGWTF has expanded to include over 600 members, with more than 400 being life members.
Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and former BGMEA President, attended as the Chief Guest. In his remarks, he highlighted major challenges confronting the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector, including energy shortages, customs complexities, and the potential impacts of Bangladesh’s graduation from Least Developed Country (LDC) status. He urged industry stakeholders to foster innovation and unity to convert these challenges into opportunities.
BGWTF President Md Abdus Samad chaired the event, while General Secretary Engr. Mahasinuzzaman Shishir moderated the proceedings. Distinguished guests included BGWTF Advisor and JCL Group Chairman Md. Helal Uddin Ahmed; Chief Advisor and Unique Group Managing Director Engr. Syed Farid Ahmed; BGWIA President Md. Safiullah Khokon; Acting BUFT Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan; Sterling Group Director Md. Monirul Islam Sentu; BGBA Joint Secretary General Md. Emdadul Huque Miazi; and AGS International Ltd Managing Director Faridul Haque.
The program also celebrated innovation within the industry, presenting Best Development Awards to Maxcom Washing, Agami Washing Ltd, and Sterling Washing Ltd for their outstanding contributions.
RNT (BD) Ltd. supported the event as Title Sponsor, while Denim Solution Ltd. and Apna Organics Ltd. served as Platinum and Gold Sponsors, respectively. Several other companies from the garment and textile sector extended their support to the gathering.
Looking to the future, BGWTF unveiled ambitious plans to establish the Bangladesh Garment Washing Institute and a dedicated BGWTF Complex on its own land in Ashulia. The foundation also announced a new life insurance partnership with Delta Life Insurance, backed by Denim Solution Ltd., aimed at strengthening member welfare.
BGWTF remains committed to providing healthcare, training, financial support, and professional workshops for its members while continuing to collaborate with government agencies and trade bodies to boost value addition in the textile industry.
