Media reports maintained this citing the industry people, according to whom, Bangladesh is largely dependent on China for raw materials and in such a scenario the US embargo could hit Bangladesh’s interest considering that the US had in 2021 banned Xinjiang’s cotton and also imposed an embargo on Chinese technology maker Huawei, while on the issue of the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act, the US imposed ban on all the products produced in western China’s Xinjiang.
Reports further added the purchase of raw materials from the controversial Chinese province is on decline even if in the wake of the embargo, countries like Bangladesh, along with Vietnam and India, may gain as well as many US companies will look for alternate sourcing destinations.
