The New York State Association of Reduction, Reuse and Recycling launched its “Textile Recovery” campaign. Also known as “Clothes the Loop NY”, the campaign helps consumer find the nearest collection point of apparels and the list of acceptable textiles. About 40 per cent of the collected textiles hence collected are reused for their original purpose, 30 per cent cut into industrial cloth and the remaining is shipped to mills to be used as reclaimed fabrics. Organizers estimate that textiles worth US $ 200 million will be collected through this campaign and 9,000 jobs will be created.
