
Easier and greater access to finance, long-term sustainability plan and removing knowledge gap that prohibits smaller manufacturers to get financing are some issues the stakeholders have highlighted as current challenges in enhancing Bangladesh apparel sector’s sustainability during the post-pandemic (COVID-19) recovery stage.
According to reports, these issues were highlighted by the stakeholders at a concerned dialogue on enhancing environmental sustainability of Bangladesh’s RMG sector, organised by the Policy Research Institute and the International Finance Corporation in Dhaka recently and participated by Government officials, representatives from global apparel brands and industries and other stakeholders.
The keynote speaker at the event, Executive Director of the Policy Research Institute, Ahsan Mansur focused on the potential for rooftop solar power, reducing input materials through greater resource efficiency, recycling and reusing waste.
