The ongoing nationwide blockade has reportedly stopped industrial operations of the garment sector in Savar and Ashulia. Exporters aren’t able arrange the scheduled shipments which is discouraging the international buyers to do further business in Bangladesh. Almas Miah, Managing Director of ZIM Sweater, said, “International buyers usually give limited time for the final delivery. So we couldn’t manage the schedule due to the disrupted production.” The supply chain of raw materials has also been interrupted and production cost has already gone up due to the blockade.
