In what can be termed a big respite for the leather industry that is undergoing financial crisis consequent to the COVID-19 outbreak, Bangladesh’s central bank has extended by 3 months the deadline for rawhide traders to submit their loan rescheduling applications.
The Bangladesh Bank on Monday took a decision to this end.
The bank had issued circular in this regard directing leather traders to file applications with banks by 30 October.
30 July was initially fixed as the last day for availing the rescheduling facility.
It may be mentioned here that the central bank had eased rules pertaining to loan rescheduling policy so as to enable rawhide traders procure hides of sacrificial animals during Eid-ul Azha.
