Apparel sourcing of the USA from Sub-Sahara region has reached US $ 700.09 million (up 31.96 per cent) during January to May ’22, as per OTEXA.
Ethiopia dethroned Kenya to become the top African apparel export country to the USA market in the first two months’ period; however, Kenya picked pace in next three months and regained its top spot.
Kenya shipped US $ 196.92 million worth of apparels to USA, noting 13.39 per cent Y-o-Y surge, while Ethiopia could ship just US $ 167.95 million (up 67 per cent) apparels to USA in January to May ’22.
On third spot was Madagascar that shipped US $ 144.78 million worth of apparels to USA in Jan.-May ’22, noting 48.68 per cent yearly increase. Madagascar stayed ahead of Lesotho which shipped US $ 114.89 million worth of apparels to USA in the mentioned period.
