The Indian Textiles Ministry has urged the Finance Minister to keep the industry in the lowest slab of the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST). “GST is important, and we are trying to convince the Finance Minister so that in GST, the textile industry remains at the lowest level,” shared Union Textiles Minister Santosh Gangwar. The minister also unveiled the Ministry’s plans of doubling the global share of Indian textile exports to US $ 80 billion from the current 5 per cent in the next 5 years.
