
The European Union, a 28-nations bloc, has recovered marginally in men’s shirts imports during the first 4 months of 2018. The volume of EU shirt imports was up 0.89 per cent on Y-o-Y basis.
EU imported 99.52 million kg of men shirts during the said period and surpassed import quantity of previous year’s period which stood at 98.64 million kg.
However, the Union witnessed a notable drop in unit prices and spent € 18.90 per kg of shirts in Jan-Apr 2018 as against import value of € 20.42 per kg of shirts in 2016, marking a drop of 7.44 per cent.
Of all major export destinations, Bangladesh fell in its exports value to EU by 4.56 per cent earning € 611.55 million. However, the country increased by 9.64 per cent in volume-terms to ship 44.91 million kg of shirts in EU market.
On the other hand, China too felt shivers in its shirts exports to the EU with a massive fall in the unit prices. Against exports value of € 324.71 million last year, China shipped shirts worth € 281.36 million in the review period this year with a solid drop by 13.35 per cent.
India too did not perform positive in the period as far as men shirts export to EU is concerned. The country noted a fall by 4.52 per cent in volume. India could just clock € 198.93 million from its shirts exports and got tumbled by 8.64 per cent on the yearly note.
