
The President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), which is the apex garment makers’ body in Bangladesh, has recently underlined the garment sector’s focus on technology to boost competitiveness.
According to reports, Faruque Hassan stated that the apparel sector of the country was increasingly putting emphasis on technological upgradation ranging from the manufacturing process to productivity improvement, environmental sustainability, resource efficiency, design development, quality enhancement to workers’ well-being even as he added the industry ‘is getting prepared to meet the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution.’
Dwelling further on the same, Faruque reportedly said that they aim to turn the challenges into opportunities by embracing technological advances and developing the skills of workers as technological upgradation will contribute to enhancing the industry’s competitiveness in the coming days.
