
Romesh Khajuria, Chairman, Wool & Woollens Export Promotion Council (WWEPC) Ministry of Textiles, Government of India led a delegation of Indian manufactures, WWEPC members to Milan, Italy to participate in the Indian Pavilion.
At the worldwide Homi Fashion and Jewels exhibition in Milan, more than 140 exporters from India are taking part. The participation provides a crucial platform for the SME sector to take advantage of the numerous export potential in this area and the nearby European market. In the presence of Romesh Khajuria, Chairman, WWEPC, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, Raj Kamal, Consul, Consulate General of India, Milan, formally opened the Indian Pavilion.
Raj Kamal expressed his optimism that this participation will certainly go a long way in boosting Indian exports to this region.
Romesh Khajuria estimated the worth of the European apparel import market at about US$ 155 billion while speaking with the press here. A total of $30.70 billion in textile and apparel is imported into Italy. China, France, Germany, Turkey, and Spain are the top 5 exporters of textiles and apparel to Italy, placing India as their tenth largest supplier.
