
The start of the year 2017 has seen surge for China and Vietnam as both the countries have registered massive growth in their first month’s apparel exports to Japan. The countries rose in values as well as in volume terms in both knitted and woven garments.
Value-wise, China surged by 15.19 per cent to 192,362,238 Yen as against 166,991,924 Yen in the same month last year. China exported 488,263,184 kgs of apparel quantity to Japan during the month of January this year. In 2016, China could only export 416,840,605 kgs of apparels to Japan indicating the rise 17.13 per cent on Year-on-Year basis.

Vietnam too rose in its value-wise apparel exports to Japan, witnessing a hike of 13.98 per cent to settle at 33,810,253 Yen as against 29,664,228 Yen in the corresponding month last year. Volume-wise, the country noted a stellar surge of 23.57 per cent in its overall apparel export during the first month of the current year. As against 43,233,987 kgs quantity in 2016, Vietnam exported 53,423,444 kgs of apparels in January 2017 to Japan.
