A delegation from RSGT Chittagong paid a visit to Mohammad Hatem, President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), at the association’s Dhaka office on 20th November to explore deeper collaboration in logistics aimed at enhancing the country’s ready-made garment export competitiveness.
The meeting reviewed key operational areas including port efficiency, service charges, digital systems and cargo-handling processes. Discussions centred on how modern logistics solutions could support the apparel industry at a time when global buyers increasingly expect faster lead times and greater predictability in delivery cycles.
During the conversation, Mohammad Hatem expressed strong interest in understanding the operational strengths of RSGT Chittagong and how its service capabilities could help streamline Bangladesh’s export processes. He emphasised that efficient logistics and smooth port operations had become essential for maintaining the country’s competitive position in the global apparel supply chain.
The visiting delegation comprised Sayed Mohammed Tarique, Head of Customer Relations; Sayed Aref Sarwar, Head of Commercial and Public Affairs; and Alifa E. Junnurine, Marketing and Communication Manager. The team highlighted RSGT’s capacity to provide advanced, integrated logistics support to high-volume exporters.
RSGT Chittagong operates under RSGT Bangladesh, part of the Red Sea Gateway Terminal brand — Saudi Arabia’s first private-sector Build-Operate-Transfer port project established in 2009.
Industry observers note that Bangladesh’s continued export growth increasingly depends on modern, high-capacity logistics partners capable of reducing delays and improving predictability across the supply chain. The engagement between BKMEA and RSGT Chittagong aligns with national efforts to bring Bangladesh’s port infrastructure closer to global standards.
Both sides agreed to continue discussions on potential joint initiatives aimed at lowering logistics costs, improving cargo-handling efficiency and offering exporters more advanced service options. The dialogue reflects a broader shift towards deeper cooperation between Bangladesh’s manufacturing associations and global logistics operators as the country works to boost trade efficiency and sustain its competitive edge.
