Bangladesh registered 43.79 per cent apparel export growth to Japan during the July-March period in the ongoing FY ’23 to ship readymade garments worth US $ 1.22 billion even as the country’s apparel items export to Japan continued to grow by more than 43 per cent to cross the billion-dollar mark in the first nine months of FY23.
Reports maintained this citing the data from the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), as per which Bangladesh exported apparel items worth US $ 1.22 billion to Japan marking a 43.79 per cent growth during the July-March period (in the ongoing FY ’23) compared to the earnings of US $ 849.64 million during the corresponding period of last FY ’22.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, industry insiders held Government’s policy support like cash incentive and the industry’s efforts to meet the Japanese standard, thanks to which apparel exports to the Far East Asian country have doubled in the last decade even if there was a decline in apparel shipments to Japan for two consecutive fiscal years beginning FY ’20 before bouncing back in the last fiscal year.
