The recurrent power outages in Bangladesh — industries in Bangladesh are reportedly facing crises gas and electric supply including the apparel industry — will end once power supply resumes from the Rampal plant and the one being developed by India’s Adani Group.
As per media reports, energy adviser to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury, maintained this while interacting with the journalists recently even as he called for patience to tackle the current situation, which he termed ‘uncertain’ while adding that it takes time to repair the lines after a grid failure.
“If the global crisis lessens and fuel prices fall, everything will be alright. Otherwise, our suffering will continue,” reportedly claimed Tawfiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury while adding, “We have built the coal-based power station in Rampal as an alternative despite objections. We expect power from Rampal by December.”
It may be mentioned here, additionally, 1600 MW Godda Power Project in Jharkhand state of India, is being implemented by Adani Power, and the dedicated transmission line to Bangladesh is expected to be commissioned by Bangladesh’s Victory Day on 16th December.
Both these combined are expected to give a facelift to current power scenario in Bangladesh.
