The three-day BIGITEX-2023 expo concluded in Dhaka, the capital city, recently. During a panel session, experts discussed how Bangladesh has emerged as a hub for sustainable industries, housing some of the world’s top 200 green factories.
However, they expressed concerns about buyers not being mentally prepared to pay fair prices for sustainable initiatives, despite the presence of these outstanding sustainable factories.
The panel discussion, titled “5th Tex Talk – Talking about Textile” and focused on “Sustainable Textile Processing from a Bangladesh Perspective,” took place at the International Convention City Bashundhara in Dhaka.
During the session, speakers highlighted the fact that while brands are showcasing sustainable products manufactured through sustainable processes in Bangladesh, they often exert pressure to further reduce prices, occasionally even requiring new certifications that incur substantial costs.
The BIGITEX-2023 expo was successfully organised by Red Carpet Global and included BIGTEX, the Bangladesh International Garment & Textile Machinery Expo, along with concurrent exhibitions such as the 7th Bangladesh International Fabric & Yarn Expo, 7th Bangladesh International Printing, Packaging & Signage Expo, 7th Bangladesh International Dyes, Pigment & Chemicals Expo, and 3P Expo – Bangladesh International Paper, Printing & Packaging Expo, all organized by Red Carpet Global.
