
India and Bangladesh on 22 December (Thursday) agreed to start discussion on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) at an early date.
This is as per media reports, which underlined the agreement was reached at the meeting of at the commerce ministries of both the countries led respectively by Tipu Munshi (Bangladesh Commerce Minister) and his Indian counterpart Piyush Goyal, held in New Delhi.
The last meeting between the commerce ministers of India and Bangladesh was last held in September 2018 at Dhaka.
As per a statement issued by Indian Commerce Ministry after the meeting, both sides held comprehensive discussions on further strengthening bilateral economic relations even if they agreed CEPA will raise living standards, create new jobs, and provide wider social and economic opportunities in both the countries.
