
Underlining theft of apparel items during transportation not only causes financial loss but also puts garment exporters in a tricky situation when such cases are detected after the goods reach the buyers, Bangladesh garment makers have called for enhanced police vigilance to curb the same.
The President of BGMEA, Faruque Hassan reportedly called for a concerted effort, especially by law enforcement agencies, to intensify vigilance on highways to stop theft of apparel items during transportation, at a meeting between the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and the Bangladesh Truck Covered Van Owners Association held in Dhaka recently.
As per reports, the apparel makers, at the meeting, underlined transport owners, police administration, exporters and other concerned parties should devise measures to stop such theft of apparel items on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
