Bangladesh’s apex garment makers’ body of the BGMEA has called upon the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEZA) to accelerate the construction of the garments village at the Bangabandhu Shilpa Nagar at Mirsarai in the port city of Chittagong so that the same could be made operational at the earliest for industries.
As per media reports, BGMEA President Faruque Hassan while speaking at a view exchange meeting with the BEZA officials reportedly maintained if the industrial plots are made ready and apparel units are able to start operations, it would help create employment opportunities for a large number of people while also bring in foreign earnings through exports.
The BGMEA Chair further reportedly said the completion of the industrial site will help garment makers to set up manufacturing units and thereby propel the industrial growth in the country.
