AKM Salim Osman has been elected President of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) again unopposed, recently.
Speaking to the media, First Vice-President of BKMEA Mohammad Hatem, reportedly, maintained this even as he added that there was no opposition in the election of the BKMEA this time.
“…so, the election commission announced the 35-member panel of Salim Osman elected…,” stated Mohammad Hatem.
According to reports, the last time a contest took place in the BKMEA election was in 2012 when the Managing Director of Plummy Fashions Ltd., Md. Fazlul Haque, also ran for presidency.
Mohammad Hatem further said that the elected board of Directors declared Osman as the President and him as the Executive President — the new post of Executive President has, reportedly, been created in the BKMEA organogram for the first time, which was created in recognition of the hard work put in my Hatem for the BKMEA for a long time with Osman — along with seven other Vice-Presidents.
