The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has certified two additional Bangladeshi garment factories as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, bringing Bangladesh’s total number of green factories to 226.
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) lists these factories as Executive Greentex Ltd. in Sreepur, Gazipur, and Saadatia Sweaters Ltd. in Ashulia, Dhaka.
With a score of 91, Saadatia Sweaters achieved Platinum certification, and with a score of 69, Executive Greentex achieved Gold certification.
With these developments, Bangladesh now has 226 LEED-accredited factories, comprising 89 Platinum and 123 Gold-certified companies.
Bangladesh now has 60 of the top 100 LEED Certified factories in the world, according to BGMEA, demonstrating the country’s dedication to sustainable development and green manufacturing.
