Bangladesh has added three more ready-made garment (RMG) factories to the list of facilities certified under the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) programme, further consolidating its position as a global leader in sustainable apparel manufacturing.
The newly certified factories include HAMS Garments Ltd., located in Dhakkhin Vangnahati, Sreepur, Gazipur, which achieved LEED Platinum certification under the LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4 rating system with a score of 108 points. Ecotrims Bangladesh Ltd., Unit 1, based in Bekashahra, Telihati, Gazipur, received LEED Gold certification under the LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1 system, securing 70 points. NAFA Apparels Ltd., Unit 1, situated in Hijolhati, Baroipara, Kaliakoir, Gazipur, was awarded LEED Gold certification under the LEED BD+C: New Construction v4 rating system with a score of 65 points.
With the addition of these three facilities, the total number of LEED-certified factories in Bangladesh has risen to 273. Of these, 115 have achieved Platinum certification, while 139 hold Gold certification, underscoring the industry’s continued focus on environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.
Bangladesh also continues to dominate global LEED rankings in the apparel sector, with 69 of the world’s top 100 highest-rated LEED-certified factories now located in the country. The latest certifications reinforce Bangladesh’s standing as a key hub for sustainable garment production, as international brands and buyers increasingly prioritise environmental performance, energy efficiency and responsible resource management across their supply chains.
