SQUARE Textiles promotes the use of sustainably grown cotton fibres at the recent Australian Cotton Conference, the company discussed its ambitions and commitment to incorporating more sustainable practices throughout the cotton supply chain.
Taslimul Hoque, Director – Operations at SQUARE Textiles, representing SQUARE Textiles, from Bangladesh, attended a distinguished panel, which included key figures from the global cotton community. The session, co-hosted by the Australian Cotton Shippers Association and the International Cotton Association Ltd Women in Cotton committee, brought together industry leaders to discuss the increasing demand for data transparency across the cotton value chain.
The conference’s main topics of discussion were impending laws from the European Union that place a strong emphasis on pollution control, biodiversity restoration, and resource efficiency. Agri Direct Australia, IKEA, and other Australian cotton stakeholders were among the panellists who discussed the potential and difficulties these regulations brought.
Eimear McDonagh, Director at Agri Direct Australia Pty, highlighted the importance of collaboration across the industry to ensure that the EU Green Deal’s implementation would lead to positive outcomes without unintended consequences.
To promote the textile industry’s sustainable future, the panel emphasised the importance of continuing conversations about the advantages of cotton and other natural fibres, both domestically in Australia and internationally.
Thanking Eimear McDonagh and the Australian Cotton Shippers Association for the invitation, SQUARE Textiles said it would be happy to collaborate with them to tackle the issues raised at the conference.
The company is still dedicated to promoting sustainability in the textile industry and helping to create a more responsible and environmentally friendly global supply chain.
