Various Indian apparel and textile companies have a strong focus on training for their workers and mid-level management, thereby achieving good results.
One such company is SAPL Industries, one of the leading apparel exporters which is working with many prominent brands and retailers.
Having state of the art units in Bengaluru and headquarters in Mumbai, the company has a major thrust on worker well being programs and training initiatives in collaboration with prominent brands like Primark, Bestseller and a few others also.
Nearly all the workers of the company have been part of these training programs.
Rangaraj K S, Head, HR, Compliance & Sustainability of the SAPL Industries told Apparel Resources, “These trainings cover stress management skills, counselling skills, personal hygiene & family health, financial literacy, gender sensitisation and building harmonious relationships at the work place. By adapting to these learning’s the employees are able to manage work life balances which in the overall sense have had a positive impact on the employees at large. In a few cases have also changed their mind set positively.”
He further added that 100 Peer Educators received HER essentials training from September 2022- May 2023 and it resulted into increased knowledge on health and general hygiene, enhanced relationships within family and in factory, improved financial behaviour and increased knowledge on savings and investments.
Apart from training activities, the company also regularly organises Employee engagement activities, health check-up camps, providing free medicines which have resulted in building a good culture and expression of gratitude by them in the organisation.
It can be mentioned here that the company is coming up with two units, each with 1,000 stitching machines in MP and Odisha.
