Underlining that garment workers were struggling much to run their families on account of the current price hike of the essential commodities, the Central leaders of the Garments Sramik Odhikar Andolan, which is a combination of garment labour rights bodies in the country, have sought immediate revision of the wage structure of the garment workers.
This is as per media reports, which added the Sramik Odhikar Andolan leaders recently held a rally in front of the BGMEA office at Diyabari in Uttara, to press home their demand for the same.
Reports further added the coordinator of the combine, Shahidul Islam Sabuj, who chaired the rally, demanded 40 per cent dearness allowance for the garment workers before the next wage board is implemented even if after the rally, a team of the combine leaders led by Shahidul Islam reportedly handed over a memorandum to the BGMEA authority regarding the workers’ wage revision.
