Kelheim Fibres, a leading manufacturer of specialty viscose is set to represent its recent innovative developments at the Global Fibre Congress beginning from 13th September in Dornbirn. The emphasis is to promote environmental sustainability and strengthen the European supply chain.
Ingo Bernt, project leader of fibre and application development at Kelheim Fibres together with Henning Röttger, head of business development at PelzGROUP in their presentation Towards high performing plant-based AHP products, a joined approach of Pelz and Kelheim Fibres, will introduce the development of a plastic-free and high-performance panty liner. The Kelheim speciality fibre Olea with its water retention speciality is the centre of the innovative technology. The company in a press release has stated that the immediacy for a sustainable and hygienic personal product was the impetus behind the product.
A similar stance is taken on their second project, under the title Performance Fibres meet Sustainable Design – example of a reusable Baby Diaper, Natalie Wunder, project leader from Kelheim Fibres’ new business development team, together with Caspar Böhme, co-founder of Sumo, will introduce the washable and reusable SUMO diaper. In contrast to conventional disposable diapers, this product will be doubly sustainable and eco-friendly.
Both these products will only be manufactured in Europe, consequently reducing the carbon footprint, having shorter trade routes and strengthening the European textile and non-wovens industry.
