With the objective to make positive changes in Bangladesh’s industries like the readymade garments sector, which has become one of the safest industries globally through reforms, the ILO has expressed interest to work with the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries (FBCCI), which is the top business body in Bangladesh.
According to a press release issued in this direction by the FBCCI, ILO wants to bring about such positive changes in the rest of the industry while adding that the issue was discussed during the recent meeting between FBCCI President Md. Jashim Uddin and ILO Bangladesh Country Director Tuomo Poutiainen.
Lauding the garment sector for its major reforms since the Rana Plaza disaster while also praising recent initiative by FBCCI and BIDA to inspect factories producing for domestic market, Tuomo Poutiainen, reportedly, underlined it would be easier for them to improve the labour sector in Bangladesh if they have the Bangladesh Employers Federation (BEF), the FBCCI and the related organisations.
