The National Circular Fashion Partnership projects will be expanded and The Global Fashion Agenda (GFA) will receive significant funding as part of a three-year partnership with the H&M Foundation.
GFA wants to increase the Global Circular Fashion Forum’s (GCFF) influence and reach. To this end, GFA is working with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and receiving support from the H&M Foundation.
The project, which was started by GFA in 2022 with assistance from GIZ, has played a significant role in spurring action to increase the pace and scope of recycling of textile waste in manufacturing nations.
Nearly 10,685 tonnes of textile waste—or 60 million T-shirts—are allegedly recycled by the GCFF and its National Circular Fashion Partnerships. The programme is presently underway in Bangladesh, is in the process of being developed in Vietnam and Cambodia, and will soon expand to Turkey and Indonesia.
Key partners such as Circle Economy, Closed Loop Fashion, and Reverse Resources, along with local stakeholders in targeted regions, will play key roles in driving this transformative agenda forward.
“This landmark partnership with H&M Foundation will enable Global Fashion Agenda to significantly expand its impact work, which is centred around our vision of a creating net positive fashion industry,” said Federica Marchionni, CEO of GFA.
