
Underlining to expand bilateral trade in future, new export sectors need to be harnessed keeping in mind the environment and labour-friendly production, German Ambassador in Dhaka Achim Troster has maintained the country (Bangladesh) must ensure sound labour and environment standards, human rights, rule of law, as well as good governance to enjoy trade privileges in the German market in the days to come.
Media reports maintained this adding the German envoy stated this while addressing the 50th anniversary of the German-Bangladesh diplomatic relations organised by the Bangladesh-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI) in capital Dhaka recently.
“…the new act on corporate due diligence in supply chains will mandate German companies from 2023 to ensure that there are no violations of human rights in their business operations and in the supply chain,” reportedly, maintained Achim Troster, adding, “Bangladesh exporters, supplying to German companies, therefore now have huge responsibilities to prepare themselves, especially in the light of adoption of this supply chain law.”
