The former General Secretary of IndustriALL Roy Ramesh Chandra reportedly passed away at his Lalmatia residence in Dhaka recently.
As per media reports, 68-year-old Chandra, who was also the former General Secretary of Jatiya Sramik League and President of United Federation of Garment Workers, breathed his last early Wednesday morning after suffering a cardiac arrest.
He is reportedly survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.
The President of Jatiya Sramik League Shukkur Mahmud and General Secretary Sirajul Islam, in separate condolence messages, expressed profound shock at the death of Roy Ramesh Chandra who was also the former member of the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) governing body.
While expressing condolences on the demise of Roy Ramesh Chandra, Md. Habibur Rahman Shiraz, Chairman, Bangladesh Institute of Labour Studies (BILS) and Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary-General, BILS, said that due to his death Bangladesh trade union movement will suffer irreparable damage.
