One of US’s leading sports equipment retailer, Eastern Mountain Sports, recently became the first large national chain to carry 100% recycled clothing made in the US. The clothing for the retailer is being manufactured by SustainU, a West Virginia based company that forms a sustainable fabric by blending pre-consumer cotton waste and post-consumer polyester, comprised from plastic bottles and post-industrial polyester scraps. SustainU is also working towards creating manufacturing jobs in US, hit hard by the economic collapse.
The line of T-shirts and sweatshirts has competitive pricing running between US $ 20 and US $ 40 per item.
